About Us

ARCC, which stands for Awareness of Roots in Chinese Culture, is an undergraduate student organization at Carnegie Mellon University that serves to promote Chinese culture to the university community and beyond.

ARCC holds an event every month, such as Mid Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year Dinner, to expose the campus community to the many facets that Chinese culture has to offer. We structure the events to appeal to those who already know about their culture as well as for those who find the Chinese culture fascinating but are not familiar with it.

In Spring 2005, ARCC introduced a new event to the Carnegie Mellon community: One Night in Beijing: A Journey through Chinese Culture. The event highlighted the often-overlooked diversity within the Chinese culture through a series of performances and traditional booths.

History

ARCC was founded in April of 1998 by Eva Bai, Ava Bai, Emily Chiu, Becky Lai, Yuan Xu, Jui Lin Dai, Yen Liu, Sandra Liu, and Sylvia Huang. The organization was officially recognized by the Student Senate on April 1, 1998. The rise of ARCC extends from the need for an organization that can bring people of Chinese origin together and promote awareness of the Chinese culture.
